How to make your own body butter

Do you like to pamper yourself with your own natural beauty products? Or perhaps like to treat your skin to a nice moisturiser after having a shower or a bath? Then here is the perfect recipe for making your own body butter that will leave your skin hydrated and soft.

What you will need:

  • 1/2 a cup of cocoa butter
  • 1/2 a cup of almond oil
  • 1/2 a cup of coconut oil
  • 1/2 a cup of shea butter
  • 30 drops of essential oils
  • Whisk
  • Jar for putting the butter in
  • Heat proof jug or bowl
  1. Melt the oils
Place all the ingredients, apart from the essential oils, in a heat proof jug or bowl and place in the microwave for 30 seconds. Remove the ingredients and check if they have melted, if not, place them in the microwave for a further 30 seconds until melted.
  2. Stir and cool
Stir the ingredients with a metal spoon until all the oils are combined. Let the mixture cool and once it has done so add the essential oils of your choice to the mixture. Place the mixture in the fridge for around an hour. The texture should be harder but still soft to touch.
  3. Whisk the mixture
Using an electric whisk, whisk the mixture for 10 minutes until it is soft and fluffy. This will ensure the body butter applies smoothly.
  4. Place in the container
Put the body butter mixture into a jar or similar container and secure with the lid and place in the fridge again for 15 minutes to set. You could use an old moisturiser container or even an old jam jar to put your body butter in.

You could even make this body butter for a friend and give as a Christmas present. Simply add a tag to the jar with a description and the scent of the body butter and wrap in some nice paper.
